Hello Dr. Liow,

Thank you for the wonderful competition experience that I had on Saturday, I enjoyed the contest and for some reason, I discovered that programming under stress isn't all that bad.

Thank you.

[Spring 2025]

Hi Dr. Liow,

Thank you again for hosting this contest, it was really fun! I had a couple of questions for you regarding competitive programming in college:

  1. What are the ACM and ICPC, and how are they similar and different to the USACO and IOI?
  2. How are the problems we solved during the contest different from those in USACO/IOI and ACM/ICPC?
  3. Besides ACM/ICPC, what other large programming contests exist in college?
  4. Roughly speaking, how many hours do you think I need to dedicate to studying computer programming, based on my performance yesterday, to reach a level where I can ace the ACM?

Thanks,

V***
